For You

This course is a good fit if you

01

Want to enjoy travelling more

You want to go beyond ordering and checking in, and enjoy restaurants, hotels, tours, shopping and conversations with the people you meet.

02

Want to speak in your own words

You want to ask a question or make small talk yourself, rather than relying only on a translation app.

03

Want to relearn English as an adult

You want to turn the English you studied at school into English you can actually use in conversation.

04

Want to enjoy English as a pursuit

You want to talk with a native teacher about travel, culture, history, food, art or the news.

Travel Scenes

Travel becomes far more interesting when you can speak.

Travel English is not about memorising set phrases. In ELT lessons you rehearse the conversations that actually happen.

At the hotel

Practise the conversations that set phrases cannot cover: changing rooms, asking for recommendations, explaining a specific request.

At the restaurant

Move beyond booking and ordering to asking about the dishes and enjoying a short exchange with the staff.

While shopping

Check sizes and materials, ask for another colour, confirm tax-free procedures. The exchanges that shopping actually requires.

With local people

Build the ability to keep a conversation going about where you are from, culture, food and interests.

Museums and culture

Learn how to ask about a work or its history, and how to express your own impressions in English.

When something goes wrong

Practise staying calm and clear when plans change, you feel unwell, you leave something behind, or a connection needs checking.

Topics

Beyond travel: enjoying everyday life in English.

ELT's Daily English course is not limited to travel scenes. Following your interests, it covers general English across themes such as these.

Why ELT

Why adults choose ELT for everyday English

01

The same dedicated teacher every lesson

At ELT the same teacher continues with you as a rule. There is no need to start from introductions every time. You build conversation with a teacher who already knows your favourite destinations, your interests and the expressions you find difficult.

02

More than simply native speakers

Every ELT teacher is a native speaker, and our faculty includes graduates of leading universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. They hold English teaching qualifications such as CELTA and DELTA, and have the breadth to sustain a conversation on travel, culture, history or current affairs.

03

50 unhurried minutes, not 25

Catch up, review the previous lesson, learn new expressions, then use them in real conversation. Fifty minutes is what makes a lesson more than a one-off chat.

04

Fully private, built around your interests

There is no fixed textbook to follow. If you have a trip planned, the destination, the hotel, restaurants, sightseeing and the situations you expect can become the lesson itself. All of the speaking time is yours.

05

Support from our Japanese-speaking staff

Lessons are conducted entirely in English, while teacher selection, scheduling and questions about how to progress are handled by our Japanese-speaking staff. If online lessons are new to you, we will guide you through the setup.

Start with the trip you have in mind.

In your free trial lesson we ask about the countries you would like to visit and the situations you want to handle, then you experience a real lesson.

Comparison

Who you speak with, and what about, matters more than how much.

If your priority is a high volume of daily speaking practice, a low-cost online English service is a reasonable choice. ELT suits those who value the quality and continuity of the conversation.
